How to Create Cube Data Source in Jet Reports?

Before you can connect Jet Reports to your Cube data, make sure you have everything ready. Here’s a quick step-by-step guide to get you started with creating cube data source in jet reports!

 

What You Need First

Before diving in, ensure you have the following:

  • Jet Excel Add-In
    Download and install the Jet Excel Add-in from the insightsoftware website.

  • OLAP Cube Database
    Your Cube database must already be created using Jet Data Manager. If you don’t have it yet, ask your system admin.

  • Login Access
    You’ll need permission to access the Cube database.

  • Jet License Activation Code
    Make sure your license includes the Universal Connector.

  • Database Info
    Have your server name or IP address and database name handy.

 

How to Connect Jet Reports to Your Cube Data

Let’s walk through the process in simple steps to create cube data source in jet reports:

  1. Open Jet in Excel
    In Excel, go to the Jet ribbon and click Settings > Data Source Settings. create cube data source in jet reports

  2. Add a New Data Source

    • Give your data source a name.

    • Select Cube as the data source type.

    • Use the dropdown to select your database name.

  6. Test the Connection

    • Click Test Connection.

    • If everything is correct, you’ll see Test Connection Succeeded. test connection for data source

  7. Save and Set Default (Optional)

    • Click OK to save your settings.

    • If you want to use this connection every time by default, click Set Default.
