Project Perspectives in Jet Analytics

What is a Project Perspective?

When working on large projects in Jet Analytics, it can get difficult to manage and find specific objects. Project Perspectives in Jet Analytics help by allowing you to create focused views of your project, showing only the objects related to a specific task or area like Finance or Sales.

For example, a Finance Perspective might include only finance-related tables, cubes, and dimensions. This makes your project easier to manage and cleaner to work with.

Types of Perspectives

You can create two types of perspectives:

  • Static Perspective – You manually select each object you want to include.

  • Dynamic Perspective – You select one main object (like a cube), and all related objects are automatically included based on table relationships.

Dynamic perspectives save time and ensure all necessary dependencies are added.

How Relationships Work in Dynamic Perspectives

Jet Analytics uses table relationships to decide what to include in a dynamic perspective. It includes:

  • Tables with relationships marked as “error” or “error with physical relation”

These indicate strong relationships and are required for proper functionality.

It does not include tables with “warning” or “relation only” types, as these are weak links.

How to Add a New Perspective

  1. Right-click the project name
If no perspectives exist yet: go to Advanced → Project Perspectives
    project perspectives in jet analytics
If perspectives already exist: right-click Project Perspectives → Add/Edit Project Perspectives

  2. Click “Add Perspective”

    • Name your perspective

    • Choose whether it’s Dynamic or Static

    • Expand OLAP servers, data warehouses, or business units

    • Select the objects (tables, cubes, dimensions) to include

In Dynamic mode, related objects are auto-included (marked with a shaded checkbox).

How to Activate a Perspective

Only one perspective can be active at a time. You can activate it in three ways:

  • Right-click the perspective in the Project Tree and select Use Project Perspective

  • From the Tools ribbon, use the Project Perspectives dropdown

  • From the Quick Access Toolbar, select the desired perspective

  • Or, right-click the active perspective in the Project Tree and deselect Use Project Perspective

Note on Deployment Errors

Sometimes, when deploying a perspective, the last OLAP dimension may fail with the message:
“No dimension relationships exist within the measure group.”

This is due to the way Jet Analytics temporarily removes and reapplies dimensions during deployment.

Project Perspectives in Jet, make large Jet Analytics projects easier to manage by letting you focus on just the parts you need. Whether you’re working on finance, sales, or any other module, perspectives help keep your project clean, clear, and efficient.
