You must have administrator rights to install Jet Reports Services. Follow the steps below to complete the installation:
Download the Jet Reports installation file from the official source.
You can access the resource: Download Jet Reports Here.Right-click the downloaded file and select Extract All to unzip the contents.
Open the extracted Jet Reports folder and double-click Jet Reports Excel Add-in Setup.exe to start the setup.
When the End User License Agreement appears, scroll to the bottom, select the checkbox to agree to the terms, and click Next.
On the authentication screen, choose one of the following options based on your organization’s requirements:
I have an insightsoftware Platform account – for customers connecting to the insightsoftware platform to access license information.
I have an activation code – for customers with a unique activation code from the legacy license portal. Enter the code and click Next.
I want to use Jet Reports in trial mode – for new users exploring the software.
On the Select the features you want to install page, choose the required features and click Next.
The Configure the Network Connection Settings page will appear. Remember that Jet Service Tier and Jet Hub must be installed on only one server in the organization, while the Jet Administration Console can be installed on multiple workstations.
Provide the following network details and click Next:
Jet Service Tier host – automatically filled with the fully-qualified domain name (FQDN). Leave unchanged if Jet Reports and Jet Service Tier are on the same machine.
Jet Service Tier port – by default, set to 7090.
Jet Hub URL – usually the same as the host name. If unsure, copy the host field into this box.
On the Authentication Method window, select the method your organization uses and click Next.
Most organizations use Active Directory.
Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365 authentication are becoming more common.
If Jet Hub is not installed, Active Directory is the only available option.
On the Configure Jet Service Tier Settings window, select the account used to run the service tier (Network Service is recommended) and click Next.
Select Add rules to Windows Firewall to ensure Jet Service Tier and Jet Hub can run properly.
If installing Jet Hub along with Jet Service Tier, the Jet Hub Settings page will appear. Select the first option to let the installation program automatically enable required IIS features.
On the Database Configuration window, provide the following details and click Next:
SQL Server Instance – select the server instance for storing Service Tier data.
Choose to log in using the service “Run As” account or database authentication. Ensure the account has db_datareader and db_datawriter permissions for the JetServices database after installation.
Database Name – select the database to connect Jet to.

If you select an existing Jet Services database, choose whether to update it to the latest version or replace it entirely, then click Next.
It is recommended to select Backup database before proceeding.
On the Start Installation page, optionally tick Launch Jet Reports to open it after installation and Add a desktop shortcut for Jet Reports for quick access.
Click Install to begin the installation process.
Once the installation is complete, you can start using Jet Reports Service.
